New Technology: WIT
For voiding dysfunction due to an enlarged obstructive prostate (BPH), the Urology Institute now offers the minimally invasive WIT (Water Induced Thermotherapy). The WIT is a "heat treatment" to the prostate, done in approximately 45 minutes in an outpatient setting as day surgery. The WIT uses hot water as an energy source to shrink the prostate, thus relieving the obstruction to urination. To date there has been no adverse effect on potency, continency, or bleeding. Most patients are able to return to their normal lifestyle within one day of treatment. The WIT can replace surgery and medical treatment for BPH. To learn more about the WIT call The Urology Institute @ (972) 243-3368 or email.
